West Horndon Primary School, Brentwood, Essex

West Horndon Primary School, Brentwood – At this school, they have a substantial school garden which they use as a discovery, wildlife and food growing area.

Pupils took part in building the raised beds in time for the arrival of their first batch of trees in December 2008.  It was a real team effort with the whole school involved in preparing and planting the tree nursery. Everyone enjoyed planting the trees and getting very muddy in the process!   We sent them 150 native trees, including the Scots Pine!

The school will be adding 80 more trees to their School Tree Nursery in March 2011.
