Rugeley School, Staffordshire

Rugeley School, a small special school for students with severe autism, received 50 tree saplings from ERS to help set up their own School Tree Nursery in March 2017. Teacher Jill Clarke has kindly provided an update on the school’s tree nursery below.

“Thank you for the lovely saplings. We had a tree planting day at our Autistic school on Thursday the 27th April, where most of our students were able to plant the tree of their choice with a little help from our Teaching assistants. It was a beautifully sunny day, which meant that we needed a lot of water to plant our trees. We planted the trees filling gaps in a hedgerow and planting bigger specimens away from the hedge at the bottom of the school field. We put metal name tags on the trees showing who planted them. It was a really lovely and worthwhile thing to do and should help to encourage wildlife around the school. Thank you again for the trees. ”
